Shoe designer, Tamara Mellon, has joined forces with her daughter, Minty Mellon, to continue the ballet-core trend into summer 2023 with a collection of ballet flats and Mary Janes titled Minty by Tamara Mellon.
Originally the co-founder of iconic footwear brand, Jimmy Choo, Mellon has continued her pattern of creating impeccably designed, handcrafted shoes in her self-titled shoe brand.

Prior to the release of the collection, Tamara Mellon’s shoes were primarily heels that ranged from stilettos to wedges and sandals that shimmered in a plethora of colors. Minty brings a classic sophistication that is reminiscent of a Parisian stroll in the 1960s.
The campaign, which was shot by Grace Burns in New York City, emphasizes the effortlessness and vitality that the shoes bring while maintaining the glamor that is embedded in the heart of Tamara Mellon.

Along with the experiences from her young adulthood, it’s evident that Mellon was heavily inspired by the recent “ballet-core” and “ballerina sleaze” trend that took TikTok by storm. This often entailed closets filled with boleros, wrap skirts, and tights in pastel pinks and whites that allowed millions to live out their Black Swan fantasies. In her own words, Minty Mellon shares, “I chose to create a line of Ballet Flats and Mary Jane’s because that is what I have wanted to wear over the past year. ”

The satin ballet flats come in pink, brown, light blue, and navy while the patent versions come in black, ivory, and red. The Mary Lanes were also designed with the same colorways with each shoe priced at $295.
